per fare le cose…

Tuesday, May 30th, 2006

…bisogna fare fatica.
pazzesco.

I want a girl with a mind like a diamond
I want a girl who knows whats best
I want a girl with shoes that cut
And eyes that burn like cigarettes
I want a girl with the right allocation
Whos fast, and thorough, and sharp as a tack
Shes playing with her jewelry, shes putting up her hair
Shes touring the facility and picking up slack
I want a girl with a short skirt,
And a loooooooooooong jacket

I want a girl who gets up early
I want a girl who stays up late
I want a girl with uninterrupted prosperity
Who uses a machetti to cut through red tape
With fingernails that shine like justice
And a voice that is dark like tinted glass
She is fast, thorough, and sharp as a tack
Shes touring the facility and picking up slack
I want a girl with a short skirt,
And a long, long jacket

I want a girl with a smooth liquidation
I want a girl with good dividends
At citi bank we will meet accidentally
Well start to talk when she borrows my pen
She wants a car with a cup holder arm rest
She wants a car that will get her there
Shes changing her name from kiddy to karen
Shes trading her mg for a white chrysler le barron
I want a girl with a short skirt,
And a
Looooooooooooooooooooooooooong
Jacket

retrievr - search by sketch / search by image

i know, it’s out since a lot of time, i know, it’s just an experiment, i know, it just works fine with colour matching, not with shape matching, but i think this is the right direction for image searching on the internet (and flickr is the right database).
posted this to remember the url… why didn’t they bought a retrievr.com domain?

Google Anal(ytics)…

Monday, May 29th, 2006

…is shit :-)
The interface is, being optimist, confused. There are millions of different ways to do the same things, and when you try to look for something specific, you simply can’t find it. The javascript you have to add, halts your website waiting for Google servers (IT’S NOT POSSIBLE!!!!).
I have not GoogleAds (i’m not that poor, and i’m not that ingenuous), but it seems that 99% of GoogleAnal functions are Ads oriented: everywhere there is a deceptive $ symbol, just to let you know Google is becoming the next big hype for the mass of internet users.
Speaking shortly: i don’t like google philosophy no more. Yesterday they gave Internet a twist creating the best search engine ever, and they did it for free. Today they are becoming a stupid dinosaur, with too much power, and with too much expectations. We need google, we don’t need the rest of the hundreds of services google is delivering day by day.
Do you have a GoogleCondom for saturday nite? Do you drink GoogleBeer? And how is it goin your GoogleLoan? And your GoogleWife is fine? Are your GoogleJeans confortable? And do you listen GoogleMusic or you do prefer GoogleSound?
In italy we say something like: google “is pissing out of the toilet” :-)

MeteoMed - meteo forecasting platform
click on the “accedi” button to start a demo verion (no pay check).
(sorry interface is only in italian… but this was customer spec!)

finally… here it is: the cause of my absence from this blog since last two months.
a graphic user interface to view meteo forecast data.
the graphic engine is based on this version, but all code has been rewritten in AS2 with eclipse and compiled with MTASC.
now everithing is code generated (nothing has been drawn by hand, not even meteo symbols like suns and clouds!).
the full project is 12,000 lines of code, and all compiled takes just 17KBytes! the client communicates with the server via XML, something like Soap based web applications do.
and right now… it’s time to throw everything in the watercloset and restart from scratch: AS3 is the next step.
i started reading some documentation, and seems very efficient, and, also, simplier than AS2 (which has too much workarounds, particularly about variable and instances scope, not for talking about movieclip stacking on the scene). i mean: MXML it’s a remake of VisualBasic with xml (don’t like it at all), but AS3 classes are really something great, the State Of The Art in visual programming. i can imagine the challenge for the next years: “AS3 vs Processing”!
